Times Square

Times Square was a minor let-down, due only to the congregations of people dressed up as iconic Cartoon characters loitering around. The basic setup is that people, mostly families, would wander up to the characters, the kids would be excited, and there would be a group photo or selfie. Everyone happy. As soon as the photo is taken then Elmo, or Woody, or Batman would whip off their headgear and underneath would - nearly always - be a very grumpy looking hispanic woman who would then demands $5 for a photo. At this point the kids would be looking very confused and the parents would be looking very annoyed. Elmo-lady meanwhile has her hand out, and no-one wants to be chased out of Times Square by a horde of angry Elmos...
